SUPERFOOD SMOOTHIE

This delicious smoothie is a great way to consume berries, dark leafy greens and plant-based protein on a regular basis. We've added some additional ingredients like spirulina, ginger and turmeric to boost immunity and reduce inflammation.

1 serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk (we like almond, coconut, pea and oat milk)

  • 3/4 cup wild blueberries, frozen (or frozen mixed berries)

  • 1/4 cup dark sweet cherries, frozen (or frozen pineapple or dragonfruit)

  • 1/2 banana, frozen

  • 1 cup organic baby spinach (or kale)

  • 1 serving protein powder (or 3 Tbsp hemp hearts)

  • 1 Tbsp nut butter (or seed butter)

  • 1 Tbsp flaxseed meal

  • 1/4-inch piece raw ginger, peeled

  • 1/4-inch piece raw turmeric, peeled

  • ½ tsp spirulina

  • 1 serving dried mushroom powder (and/or acai powder, maca powder)

  • 2 pitted dates, optional (for added sweetness)

  • add enough water to cover the ingredients

  • ice cubes, optional

Method:

  1. To a high-speed blender, add the milk and then the remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth and creamy. Best enjoyed immediately.

Note: Make a batch of freezer smoothie bags to save time in the morning. Add all the ingredients to a quart size freezer ziploc bag, except for the plant milk and water. Freeze for up to a month. To serve, add the contents of one freezer bag to blender plus the plant milk and water. Blend until smooth and creamy. Enjoy!
